Here in Britian, we have many stately homes maintained by the National Trust. Each of them has a fascinating story to tell. This picture was taken at Baddesley Clinton near Birmingham. It’s a beautiful old house complete with moat, courtyard and even a ‘priest’s hole’. This was where a clergyman could be hidden by a devoutly Catholic family after the English Reformation.

Strange how danger can lurk even amongst such beauty!

This image was taken at the Beamish Museum near Durham, UK. The faithfully reconstructed buildings, fun fair and farmland covers a site of more than 1 mile square. It is a great place to see  costumed staff demonstrating lifestyles long gone. The two figures are tram drivers on the circular route around the museum
